We are pleased to announce that we have secured an additional location to host the only wheel to wheel off road racing series in Alberta! Castrol Raceway, located near Edmonton, Alberta, is a world class race facility that hosts events such as the IHRA Rocky Mountain Nationals, World Of Outlaws Oil City Cup and the CMRC Motocross Nationals. The grounds feature a 1/4 mile IHRA sanctioned dragstrip, a 3/8 mile clay oval track, a mini sprint Cart track and a 10 acre CMRC sanctioned motocross track. The staff of Wheel2Wheel and Castrol Raceway feel that short course off road racing is a natural addition to this facility. The close proximity to the city of Edmonton will allow thousands of off road race fans to see the wild action of wheel to wheel off road racing.
Short course racing is often described as “a combination of dirt sprint cars and motocross”. The thrill of watching trucks taking a 3 foot high jump side by side, followed by stuffing 4 trucks into a corner wide enough for only 2 often brings fans to their feet. As with any motorsport, there is a variety of classes that fit a variety of budgets. Some of the pro trucks can cost over $100,000 while some of the stock classes are built on a budget of $5000 or less.
The Castrol Raceway is hosting monster truck races this weekend on August 7-8. We will have a few of our race trucks and drivers on hand to perform demonstration races as well as allow fans to view the race trucks up close and ask any questions about short course 4×4 races in Alberta. We hope to see you there!
